Michele A. Roberts is a trailblazing attorney whose career has left a profound mark on North American sports and legal circles. Born in the South Bronx in 1956, Michele Roberts earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

She began her legal journey as a public defender in Washington, D.C., quickly rising to chief of the trial division and establishing herself as one of the nation’s premier trial lawyers, with more than 150 jury trials to her name. Michele Roberts made history in 2014 when she became the first woman to serve as executive director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), and the first woman to lead a major professional sports union in North America.
